Democracy Reporting International
(DRI) is a nonpartisan, independent, not-for-profit international organization
registered in Berlin, Germany, which promotes political participation of
citizens, accountability of state bodies and the development of democratic
institutions world-wide. DRI is looking for a full time expert for the
electoral component of the project “Improving Parliamentary Performance in
Pakistan”. The Expert will coordinate DRI’s work with the national and
provincial assemblies, parliamentary research staff, elected representatives
and PIPS.
Core Duties &
Responsibilities
Serve as technical and management
lead for the component
Serve as DRI point of contact
with the National Assembly, Senate and PIPS
Act as DRI expert on legislative
electoral reform issues, providing analysis, advice and presentations on
electoral topics to the project beneficiaries and other electoral stakeholders
Coordinate technical assistance
to provincial assemblies on the legal framework for local elections
In coordination with the Country
Director, under the supervision of Program Officer manage the recruitment of
short term experts and supervise their work
Qualifications/ Experience
The ideal candidate will have the
following qualifications:
10+ years of relevant
professional experience
Detailed understanding of
Pakistani politics, the parliamentary set up and electoral reform agenda
Familiarity with election
management infrastructure and the legal framework for general and local
government elections
Knowledge of international
standards ( international law and human rights law) in elections is an asset
Experience in electoral management,
assistance, observation or advocacy project is a strong advantage
Experience with legislative
strengthening programs is an asset
Demonstrated project management
expertise
Strong writing, presentation and
group facilitation skills
Superior oral and written English
Ability to travel regularly
throughout Pakistan
Commitment to the principles set
forth with the Universal Declaration on Human Rights, International Covenant on
Civil and Political Rights, Convention on Elimination of all forms of
Discrimination Against Women and other instruments of international human
rights law
The starting salary for this
position is 160,500 PKR per month plus an attractive benefit package. The final
salary will depend on the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
