Responsibilities
As a member of the Senior Management Team:
- Support and lead Country Office staff to ensure effective delivery of all development projects and activities
- Support development of an organizational culture that reflects our values, promotes accountability and high performance and frees up our people to deliver outstanding results for children and excellent customer service for our Members and donors
Strategic Planning
- Provide strategic vision and direction to the country program.
- Take lead role in developing program strategies and annual plans.
Staff Development
- Manage people and department’s budget and report on progress on expenditure.
- Managing Program Implementation
- Provide overall supervision to implementation and integration of activities in programme sectors, including allocation of resources and ensuring that appropriate controls are maintained at all levels,
- Ensure programs are completed within time, on budget and achieve their objectives.
- Ensure programs are implemented in ways responsive to the communities, in line with Save the Children principles, values and strategic plan and following Save the Children compliance procedures.
Logistics
- Supervise Logistic. Dept. functions of fleet management, procurement, warehousing/storage, inventory ensuring compliance with SCI Pakistan Policies & Procedures Manual, GOP laws and contractual obligations.
- Representation and Networking
- Help establish, maintain, and improve active and regular working relationships with - host government authorities, donors and partner agencies (e.g., USAID, DFID, SIDA, etc.), the UN system, and local and international NGOs including other members of Save the Children.
- Interact regularly with the international donor and NGO community to ensure awareness of SC programmes.
- Lead on priority corporate program implementation
- Supervise and manage programme staff
- Ensure appropriate staffing at all levels of the program department
- Ensure appropriate gender, and ethnic diversity within program team.
- Ensure that program staff have clearly defined objectives and understand their responsibilities.
- Incorporate staff development strategies and Performance Management Systems into team building process.
- Ensure availability of appropriate professional development opportunities for program staff.
- Encourage a team culture of learning, creativity and innovation.
Required
- Post graduate master’s degree on development or other social sciences and 10+ years management experience of running complex multi grant country programs, exposure to different countries would be an advantage
- Very good understanding of at least 3 of the sectoral programs and a working knowledge of program priorities.
- Substantial experience and knowledge of effective financial and budgetary control and securing and managing grants (e.g., USAID, SIDA and DIFD grants).
- Ability to analyze information, evaluate options and to think and plan strategically.
- An in depth understanding of national and international development issues in particular in relation to children.
- Previous experience managing and developing a team and ability to lead, motivate and develop others.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
