The IRC has been working in Pakistan since 1980. The IRC is leading a Pakistan Reading Project PRP to improve the quality of reading in public and private schools, supporting at least 2.5 million additional primary school students to read at a level commensurate with standards at their grade level. This goal will be supported by the mutually-reinforcing components of teacher education and professional development (PD), systems reform, and civil society engagement.

SCOPE OF WORK
  • The Chef’s primary responsibility is to prepare meals and snacks for staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Plan for meals and snacks within given budgets; procure food items at best quality and best price.
  • Cooking and preparing a variety of fresh nutritious meals and other refreshments.
  • Having a ‘hands on’ approach to all areas of the kitchen and possessing excellent organizational skills and administrative skills.
  • Determine how food should be presented, and create decorative food displays.
  • Account for expenditures, providing supporting valid and authentic receipts.
  • Prepare and serve meals and snacks, as scheduled.
  • Maintain good hygiene and cleanliness in food preparation.
  • Store food properly.
  • Organize and maintain the kitchen, kitchen equipment, cooking utensils and dishes in good, complete and clean order.
  • The cook will have to work on Saturdays and occasionally on Sundays or as and when required.
  • Report all necessary kitchen equipment requests timely to the main office administration on given forms for this purpose.
  • Participate in professional training and development activities, as needed or requested.
  • Perform other duties, as needed or requested.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Good health and personal hygiene.
  • Demonstrated cooking skills.
  • Basic education, preferably up to Matric.
  • Eager to learn new recipes and cooking techniques.
  • Previous experience of working in an international setting is preferable.
  • Responsiveness to direction and willingness to learn.
  • Previous experience and/or training as a cook.
