UNICEF Pakistan needs to fill following position.
PURPOSE OF THE POST
Under the close supervision of Health & Nutrition
Specialist, contributes to programme planning, administration, implementation,
monitoring and the evaluation of programme/project activities, including
teamwork and capacity building in Sindh.
Accountable for professional technical contribution to
project design, planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and
administration of Immunization (EPI) programme/project activities, including
data analysis, programme support, delivery, progress reporting, and commitment
for expansion of immunization coverage, as well as enhancement of teamwork and
capacity building, in support of achievement of planned objectives of the work
plan, aligned with country programme goals, objectives and strategy. Moreover,
the position will also support in the identification o the principal drivers of
inequities in immunization coverage; plan and implement activities to address
these inequities and monitor the progress in close collaboration with the
Department of Sindh.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Work with partners at the national provincial and
district levels (Government, WHO, NGOs) as part of the Pakistan EPI/Polio Team
to ensure joint planning. Analyze and identify high-risk areas for intensified
social mobilization and immunization activities. Undertakes ongoing field
visits throughout Sindh for the participation in monitoring of EPI/Polio
related project activities. Attends and facilitates periodical reviews both at
provincial and agency levels. Timely, prepares routine reports on results of
visits and project progress. Ensure coordination and facilitation of cross
border activities at all applicable levels. Moreover, the position will also
support in the identification o the principal drivers of inequities in
immunization coverage; plan and implement activities to address these
inequities and monitor the progress in close collaboration with the Department
of Sindh
2. Collects and analyses data for EPI/Polio planning.
Assembles EPI/Polio related background information and provides updated
information on financial and administrative status for analysis and report
purposes. Provides technical support and analyze EPI/Polio related Social
Mobilization partnerships with the Department of Health and other partners at
district / agency levels, and recommends appropriate adjustments.
3. Investigates queries related to EPI/Polio programmes
regarding authorization, delivery or payments. Follows up with Operations,
Finance, Supply and Programme staff on processing of payments, advances to
governments and liquidation of accounts. Ensures that EPI/ activities are in
accordance with national policy , strategies and plans of action including in
the emergency context.
4. Monitors the flow and utilization of EPI/Polio related
supply and non-supply assistance to local authorities. Drafts supply and
financial documentation. Collects and records information on supply/non-supply
inventory, distribution and utilization.
5. Support Agencies to develop indicator specific EPI/Polio
communication plans and ensure that district-level plans reflect activities
that will directly target hard-to-reach communities and household child
caregivers. Communicates with the counterpart and local authorities on details,
and recommends courses of action to the supervisor.
6. Assist counterparts in drafting of EPI/Polio related
budgets, ensuring accuracy and appropriateness of coding in accordance with
PIDB system. Guide the recruitment, training, support and supervision of
EPI/Polio district / agency teams in Balochistan. Drafts and issues updated
status reports.
7. Drafts sections of donor, annual and other reports, as
required by the CO, RO or HQ.
QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES required to perform the
duties of
the post:
EDUCATION
- University degree in one of the disciplines relevant to the following areas: Social Sciences, Medicine, Health, Public Health, Family Health, Child Development, Nursing, or a field relevant to international development assistance in Immunization and Child Survival & Health Care.
- Background/familiarity with Emergency would be an asset.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Two years of relevant professional work experience. Field
work experience. Experience in knowledge management. Training and experience in
social welfare, or Immunization/health care.
LANGUAGES
Fluency in English required. Knowledge of the local working
language of the duty station
is an asset.
